This Antique New England Dough Bowl was hand turned and heavy in weight. The Antique Wooden Dough Bowl was made from a single piece of black ash, which grows in New England in a temperate zone climate. Notice the beautiful characteristics of this bowl. The antique bowl has a large grooved incised collar and has a flat resting base! The Antique New England Dough Bowl has a mellow rich warm patina that was characteristic of black ash bowls. The Antique Black Ash Bowl has a beautiful noticeable out of round shape that is typical and signifies a hand turned wooden bowl. Wooden dough bowls were the work horses of the early New England kitchens. These wooden dough bowls were not considered decorative pieces. The outside of the bowl has a large and wide bee hive shape and with a flat surface on the bottom to rest on. You can see the beautiful wavy grain of the black ash wood. The Antique Hand Turned Black Ash Dough Bowl is in excellent condition with age appropriate wear and patina. The Antique Black Ash Dough Bowl is in pristine condition and has been cleaned and oiled with Natural Bees Wax Oil. No stain was added
